Activities
All-Church Ice Cream Social & Swim Party
MUMC’s annual ice cream social/swim party is held at Oakland Park each summer. The ice cream is provided, with everyone bringing favorite toppings and desserts. For all ages! The pool is reserved for MUMC members and friends.
Catch the Spirit Picnic & Potluck
Catch the Spirit Sunday celebrates the beginning of Fall programs at MUMC with a potluck picnic at Bethel Park. Music, munching and merriment!
Chicks with Sticks
Knitters meet each Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcreek Yarn Shoppe (1414 Rangeline) to share ideas, new techniques, and yarn choices. This group will be doing some charity knitting as well as garments and bags for personal use. For more details call Mary Waltman, 474-9374.
Child Care and Young Children
Our nursery care-givers provide comfort and loving care for children while parents attend Sunday School and/or worship. The nursery is equipped with a pager system that allows parents to carry a vibrating pager so they can be notified if needed. The MUMC nursery (Room 107) is located on the first floor of the church and is open during worship services and Sunday school. Since we have a large attendance, with each child deserving individual attention, parents are invited to assist in the nursery. Sign-up schedules are posted regularly.
Christian Drama with Liturgical Dance
Come and be involved as we enhance our worship with drama or dance: act, dance, write, direct, or offer technical assistance. Occasional presentations will be performed as all ages and experienced and inexperienced persons come together to share their faith.
Christian Family Day at the Ball Park
Each year a bus full of MUMC members and friends enjoy a professional baseball game. Come join this great activity each summer!
Contemporary Creative Team
With the approval of the Administrative Council, a task force is in place to vision, plan, and oversee the expansion of elements of contemporary worship in the 8:50 service. Many exciting opportunities will be available for you to join Ministry Teams working toward implementation of these elements! Volunteers are needed for technology and media production, photography, music, (vocal, keyboard, and instrumental), welcoming and hospitality, visual and creative arts, drama, and dance. For more information concerning the role of each team, call Jeannette Elliott at (573) 445-5566.
Dinner Club
Dinner Club is a way of getting acquainted with others in our church. Each semester - fall and spring - we organize groups of eight to dine together over a three to four month period. In the intimacy of small groups, we find that sharing joys and concerns enriches our Christian fellowship and helps us meet the needs of our congregation. This activity includes any single or married person who would like to be part of a monthly dinner group. To participate call Gloria and Bob Taylor, 875-6111; Ellen and Wayland McKinsey, 442-7619; or Dave and Carole Babel, 442-0245.
