Healthy Church Initiative

Missouri United Methodist Church is beginning a year long effort to renew the church and agree upon a vision. This process was voted on and approved by the SPRC Saturday Feb. 19, 2011.

We will post information on this page as we develop the information. We hope that as you become part of this discussion that you will also utilize these documents in order to assist in the communication of this effort. We intend to be very transparent with everything that is being communicated and the reasoning for decisions. This is a great opportunity to examine what we do, the state of the church and how we can go about being an example of what a strong and successful church can accomplish. If you have questions please feel free to contact Rev. Amy L. Gearhart or Rev. Keith Vessell with clarification questions etc. Please check back at the page throughout the year.

The Healthy Church Initiative will be initially broken down into three separate groups.
  1. A prayer team will be developed under the leadership of Rev. Molly Moore to pray for the process and God's work within the process. If you are interested in being on this prayer team please contact Rev. Moore.
  2. A vision team which is composed of the committees voted on at 2010 charge conference and selected individuals within the congregation. This team will be under the leadership of Rev. Gearhart.
  3. A self-study team that will collect data about Missouri UMC and the local community. This team will be under the leadership of Rev. Vessell and Bob Elliott, Business Manager of Missouri UMC.
